Your living options

Wesleyhaven provides a ‘continuum of aged care’, catering for needs ranging from supported care in our rest home and continuing care in Wesleyhaven’s hospital to independent living in rental villas.

Your living options at Wesleyhaven Village  includes  Strand Rest Home which provides rest home level care for people who require assistance or support with their day-to-day living; Wesleyhaven Hospital caters for residents who require full-time nursing care; Short-term Respite, Convalescence & Day Support Care provides a safe and enjoyable community environment for pre-arranged short-term or temporary care; and our Independent Living Villas, Flats & Townhouses offer friendly accommodation in a safe, secure environment, where residents live independently and privately, but can participate in the Village activities.

Open since 1953, Wesleyhaven was one of the first retirement villages in New Zealand and is one of the largest facilities in the Hutt Valley/Lower Hutt to offer a continuum of quality care on the one site.

Since opening Wesleyhaven has been home to over 7,000 people, and today over 100 residents can live, participate and contribute to Village life.

Day-to-day resident care is provided by HealthCare Assistants and Registered Nurses who go out of their way to get to know residents; their likes, quirks, preferred routines and ways of doing things.  In this way special lasting bonds and relationships are formed which, for staff, make the role so much more than ‘just a job’ and this in turn is shared by the trust which residents place in staff.

Respite and day support

Wesleyhaven’s respite and day support care options provide short term support in times of need, plus an opportunity to sample our hospitality.

"My husband Nick needed high level hospital care at short notice while I underwent a hip replacement operation and Wesleyhaven were able to provide this. Twice the staff also brought Nick to visit me in hospital which we really appreciated. Nick enjoyed the company of the carers, entertainment, ‘blokes’ club and happy hour whilst at Wesleyhaven. I have the utmost admiration for all at Wesleyhaven who provided such loving care for Nick".

Independent Living

Wesleyhaven’s 32 villas, flats and townhouses provide homely rental accommodation options for independent living in a safe and secure environment without the concerns of property maintenance.

“You get an amazing view, at night time all the streets light up like a Christmas tree. The bus service is superb... sit anywhere you like, it goes every 15 minutes."

"I firmly believe that although mum can be a handful, she's happier than I have seen her in years. That's because she is socialised and thrives around others. She is cared for and she is loved. Thank you for improving her quality of life."

Hospital Care

Wesleyhaven’s hospital offers specialised assistance should you require 24 hour nursing in a positive, friendly and respectful environment.

"I love the fact that most of the staff have been here for a long time, there is a lot of loyalty from the staff, and the residents are really like their family. I love the quality of care that the staff provide to the residents, they go the extra mile. I love the environment, it’s very home like, and supportive. It’s resident focused. [Wesleyhaven] are a not for profit, so the focus is really on the residents".
