Rest Homes

Should you be assessed as needing supported rest home accommodation, Wesleyhaven Village offers a cosy rest home.

Strand Home

At Strand Home, the rooms and lounges have the most amazing views over the Hutt Valley, both by day and night.

The large open plan dining room, lounge and sun drenched conservatory lend themselves to activities and entertainment and there is always something happening. Strand’s entertainment ranges from weekly Cooking Sessions, Church Services, Housie, Trophy Bowls, Wooden Toy making, Old Time Music and Happy Hours to monthly stalls to special events such as the annual ANZAC Service and New Years party. These activities provide the opportunity for residents to socialise if they wish to, whilst others choose to sit quietly with a book or look out over the glorious garden setting. Some residents take the opportunity to join the Garden Club and grow vegetables in raised garden boxes, volunteer with the mail run or to feed the birds in the Aviary.

Views from the dining room encompass open space, gardens, bush and in the distance, the suburb of Naenae.  Residents can either retain their own General Practitioner or attend the weekly clinic by the visiting General Practitioner.

Rest Home Living

Assisting residents to gain or retain their connections with the wider community is a key focus at Wesleyhaven, with opportunities to join the local Friendship Club, have a cup of tea at the local cafe, a beer at the RSA, to go on van drives to a myriad of places, and to enjoy the interaction with members of the wider community who come for various events. And of course Wesleyhaven with its rest home, a Continuing Care Hospital and Rental Units is a community within the community.

Despite all the activities on offer, a wonderful relaxing environment can always be found; many residents choose to sleep in, have breakfast in bed and take a more leisurely start to the day. Family and friends are always welcome to visit and to share in a cup of tea, meal or drink at the weekly Happy Hour.

Many of our Wesleyhaven staff have been part of the team for between 10 and 30 years. They, and the newer staff, are very committed and constantly ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure residents enjoy a real quality of life. Residents and relatives frequently tell us that they feel very at home at Wesleyhaven.
